North Carolina is steadily moving toward more modern notarial practices. Electronic notarization, including both in-person electronic notarization and remote electronic notarization, is becoming increasingly established under North Carolina law.
What does this mean for you? Electronic notarization offers convenience and flexibility. With remote electronic notarization, you can have documents notarized while in a different location, using secure audio-visual technology. This is especially valuable for those with mobility challenges or busy schedules.
However, it's important to understand the current legal landscape. The emergency video notarization provisions have extended through July 01, 2027. Current North Carolina law requires both traditional and electronic notarization to be done in person, unless conducted through officially approved remote platforms.
The North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State is developing rules to implement the Remote Electronic Notarization Act. TLG Notary Services stays informed about these developments and will be ready to offer compliant remote services when they become available.
In the meantime, we provide in-person notary services throughout Greensboro and surrounding counties, with the convenience of mobile appointments.
